Robinhood Box Office Collection Day 1: Nithiin-Sreeleela Starrer Fails To Weave Magic Despite Warner’s Cameo, Opens At 2 Cr



Robinhood Box Office Collection Day 1: Nithiin and Sreeleela’s Robinhood has opened with low figures at the box office. The Telugu film hit the big screens on March 28 and received mixed reviews. The action comedy also features Australian cricketer David Warner in a cameo role. However, despite such elements, the film managed to collect ₹2 crore on its opening day. Robinhood is also facing some competition from the Malayalam biggie L2: Empuraan.

Nithiin starrer Robinhood released with limited promotions and amid moderate buzz. The film follows the story of Ram (Nithiin), an orphan who robs the rich and supports an orphanage. He goes to a village as a security guard of the daughter of a rich NRI and encounters the problem. The movie has been praised for its quirky plot but average performances and weak direction don’t do justice to the storyline.

The film’s business was on the lower end on Friday. It minted ₹2 crore on its opening day in the Telugu states. Robinhood has not released in any other language. L2 Empuraan, which has also released in Telugu, collected ₹1.15 crore on Thursday and ₹27 lakh on Friday. Though the numbers achieved by the Mohanlal starrer are not very impressive, it might the prospects of Robinhood.

Meanwhile, Australian cricket star David Warner has a 3-minute cameo role in Robinhood. 

This also marks the sports star’s acting debut. While Warner has worked in ad films before, the Telugu film marks his big screen acting debut. Reportedlyu, he has charged ₹3.5 crore for the film, including ₹1 crore for promoting it.
