IPL 2025: Kolkata Knight Riders rope in Ottis Gibson as assistant coach

NEW DELGI: Kolkata Knight Riders on Sunday named West Indian Ottis Gibson as their assistant coach for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League, beginning March 22.
Gibson, a 55-year-old former Barbadian fast bowler, has a remarkable record of over 650 first-class wickets. He played international cricket for West Indies in Tests and ODIs from 1995 to 1999 before transitioning to coaching.
Gibson’s coaching credentials include two tenures as England’s bowling coach from 2007-10 and 2015-17.
Gibson also served as West Indies head coach from 2010-14, leading them to victory in the 2012 ICC World T20 in Sri Lanka.
He later took charge as South Africa’s head coach from 2017-19 and has since worked with various T20 franchise teams worldwide.
At KKR, Gibson joins a distinguished coaching staff that includes Dwayne Bravo as mentor, Chandrakant Pandit as head coach, Bharat Arun as bowling coach, and Carl Crowe as spin-bowling coach, among others.
