14-year-old boy among 3 teenagers arrested after 21-year-old man killed in Essex

A 14-year-old boy is among three teenagers arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of a 21-year-old man in a park in Chelmsford, Essex.Emergency services were called to Central Park at about 7pm on Friday after reports of a serious incident. Officers arrived to find the victim with critical injuries.Despite the efforts of paramedics, the 21-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police make 3 arrests

Essex Police said an immediate investigation led officers to an address in Auckland Close, Chelmsford, where three suspects were arrested shortly afterwards.The suspects, aged 14, 17 and 18, remain in custody for questioning.The victim’s family has been informed and is receiving support from specially trained officers.

Detectives appeal for information

Senior investigating officer Detective Inspector Lydia George described the incident as “deeply distressing” and said investigators were focused on establishing the circumstances surrounding the man’s death.“A family is grieving and our thoughts remain firmly with them at this incredibly difficult time,” she said.Police confirmed they are not currently seeking anyone else in connection with the incident and said there is no ongoing risk to the public.

Community reassurance patrols

Detectives are continuing to appeal for witnesses and information from anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident.“This took place in a busy public area, and while we have already received valuable assistance from the public, we continue to appeal for information,” DI George said.“Even the smallest detail could prove crucial.”Officers will remain in the Chelmsford area in the coming days to provide reassurance and support to the local community as the investigation continues.
