NEW DELHI: Former Indian cricketer Yograj Singh, who is also father of legendary cricketer Yuvraj Singh, expressed his satisfaction with Rohit Sharma‘s decision to continue playing One Day International (ODI) cricket and not retire from the format.
Speculations and reports had suggested that the Champions Trophy final between India and New Zealand in Dubai could have been Rohit’s last ODI appearance.
However, Rohit’s outstanding performance, scoring a swashbuckling 76 runs, laid the foundation for India’s four-wicket victory and their triumph in the tournament.

After the match, Rohit addressed the media and confirmed his intention to continue playing ODIs, stating, “I am not going to retire from this format.”
Yograj Singh welcomed this decision and expressed his belief that both Rohit and Virat Kohli should consider retirement only after the 2027 ODI World Cup, scheduled to be held in South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia.
“The best thing is that Rohit Sharma said he is not retiring. Well done, my son. Nobody can retire Rohit and Virat. They should think about retirement after winning the 2027 ODI World Cup. I had said this before India would win,” Yograj told ANI.
