NEW DELHI: Bengal keeper-batter Wriddhiman Saha on Friday received a guard of honour from his teammates during their Ranji Trophy match against Punjab at Eden Gardens, Kolkata.
CAB president Snehasish Ganguly honored Saha before the start of Day 2 with team members presenting him with a signed Bengal team jersey, a flower bouquet, and a shawl.

“It has been a wonderful and inspiring career. To make his debut in 2007 and play this long is incredible. I congratulate him and wish him all the best,” said Ganguly.
Saha had earlier announced his retirement from all forms of cricket during the current Ranji Trophy season.

With Bengal’s slim chances of reaching the knockouts, the match against Punjab is likely to be his final appearance.
At stumps, Bengal held an 88-run lead after bowling Punjab down to 64 for 3 in their second innings.
Bengal had earlier scored 343 in response to Punjab’s first innings total of 191.
Suraj Sindhu Jaiswal scored 111 runs for Bengal, while Sumanta Gupta and Abhishek Porel contributed 55 and 52 runs respectively.
Saha was dismissed for a duck in the first innings by Gurnoor Brar.
His First-Class career spans 141 matches with 7,169 runs at an average of 48.68, including 14 centuries and 44 fifties.
The 40-year-old veteran last represented India in December 2021 against New Zealand at the Wankhede Stadium.
His international career includes 40 Tests with 1,353 runs at an average of 29.41, and nine ODIs.
Although Saha opted out of the IPL 2025 auction, he has participated in every IPL season since 2008. His most recent stint was with Gujarat Titans, where he won the title in 2022.
Throughout his IPL career, he played for various teams including Kolkata Knight Riders, Chennai Super Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Punjab Kings, notably scoring a century in the 2014 final.
