Meta AI chief Alexandr Wang reacted with a cheeky question to Elon Musk’s post about a flying Tesla, triggering fresh online chatter around the tech billionaire’s futuristic vision for transportation.
Meta AI chief Alexandr Wang has sparked a social media buzz after reacting to a demonstration of Tesla’s futuristic Roadster, which appeared to perform airborne stunts using advanced propulsion technology.
“Wait who the hell was driving the Tesla,” Wang wrote on X, responding to a video of the demonstration. His tongue-in-cheek remark questioned who was controlling the vehicle as it appeared to execute dramatic manoeuvres.
The demonstration took place at a SpaceX test facility in McGregor, Texas, where Tesla CEO Elon Musk showcased the next-generation Roadster. The two-seater electric sports car was shown accelerating up a steep ramp, hanging upside down before spinning off it, flipping in the air and landing with the help of air jets.
Following the demonstration, Musk posted on X: “My OG Roadster is still orbiting Mars and Earth.” He was responding to a Tesla post juxtaposing the original Roadster launched into space aboard SpaceX’s Falcon Heavy rocket in 2018, with the next-generation model.
Tesla described the concept as a collaboration between the electric-car maker and SpaceX, with the new Roadster featuring integrated cold-gas thrusters. Musk said the system uses high-pressure air tanks and multiple nozzles to propel the vehicle.
Musk also said the Roadster would enter production in 2028. However, the demonstration and the production timeline do not establish that the vehicle is a commercially available flying car.
Wang’s response added a humorous dimension to the showcase, drawing attention to the unusual spectacle and the questions surrounding how such a vehicle would be operated.
