New Delhi: South Korean actor Jung Eun-woo, best known for his roles in popular dramas such as Welcome to Waikiki 2 and Bride of the Sun, has reportedly passed away at the age of 39.

The news of his sudden demise has sent shockwaves across the South Korean entertainment industry and among fans across the world.

The actor’s family has chosen not to disclose the cause of death and has requested privacy during this difficult time.

According to a report by The Chosun Daily, the circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear. However, Jung Eun-woo’s final Instagram posts have drawn significant attention from fans and netizens.


Days before his passing, the actor shared a series of images featuring late Hong Kong star Leslie Cheung, British singer Amy Winehouse, and a final photo of himself. The background music of Amy Winehouse’s song Back to Black played in the post. The caption read, “Missing jealous sorry, PIR. BG.”

In another post shared earlier, Jung Eun-woo uploaded a photo of a red moon with the caption:“Red moon. Whether it’s hanging there or suspended, it’s going to fall anyway…”

 


Who was Jung Eun-woo?

Jung Eun-woo made his acting debut in 2006 with the KBS youth drama Sharp 3. Over the years, he appeared in several television dramas including Bride of the Sun, One Well-Raised Daughter, My Only One, and Welcome to Waikiki 2.

Although he was often seen in supporting roles, his performances earned him steady recognition and affection from viewers for his natural screen presence and dedication to his craft.

Funeral details and tributes

As per media reports, Jung Eun-woo’s funeral is scheduled for February 13, with his wake being held at the New Goryeo Hospital Funeral Hall in Gimpo, Gyeonggi Province.

Several celebrities from the Korean entertainment industry have paid emotional tributes to the late actor. Pop artist Nancy Lang wrote,

“I didn’t even know these photos were a signal… My heart hurts so much and I’m so sad.”

Actress Kim Yoon-seo also shared a heartfelt message, apologising for not saying goodbye properly and wishing him peace in her tribute.

Jung Eun-woo’s passing marks a tragic loss for the Korean drama industry, leaving fans and colleagues mourning a talented actor gone too soon.
