Kohli enters IPL 2025 after playing a key role in India’s title win at the recently-concluded ICC Champions Trophy, where they beat New Zealand in the final and stayed unbeaten in the tournament.
Kohli finished the Champions Trophy as his team’s second-highest scorer with 218 runs in five matches at an average of 54.50, which also puts him at number five in the overall list.

The highlights of Kohli’s run in the tournament was his unbeaten century (100*) against Pakistan in the group match and a crucial 84 in the semifinal win over Australia.
He stands as the IPL’s leading run-scorer, having amassed 8,004 runs in 252 matches at an average of 38.66 and a strike rate of 131.97, including eight centuries and 55 half-centuries.
In the previous season, Kohli won the Orange Cap as the tournament’s top scorer with 741 runs, at an average of 61.75 and strike rate of 154.69, which helped RCB come back towards the latter stages of the league phase with six consecutive wins to qualify for the playoffs.
