SWISS to connect Bengaluru and Zurich with five weekly nonstop flights – Firstpost

Swiss International Air Lines will launch five weekly nonstop flights between Bengaluru and Zurich from October 2026, strengthening Lufthansa Group’s India presence and boosting connectivity for business, tech and leisure travellers

Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) will launch nonstop flights between Bengaluru and Zurich from October, marking the airline’s entry into southern India as the Lufthansa Group expands its footprint in one of the world’s fastest-growing aviation markets.

The new service will operate five times a week and connect passengers directly between Bengaluru and Zurich, SWISS’ global hub. The route will also provide onward access to destinations across Europe and North America through the wider Lufthansa Group network.

The launch underlines the growing importance of India — particularly Bengaluru’s technology and business ecosystem — in the expansion plans of European carriers seeking a larger share of premium international travel demand.

Bengaluru will become SWISS’ latest destination in India and the third Lufthansa Group gateway from the city after Frankfurt and Munich. The airline said the route is aimed at catering to strong demand from business travellers, the technology sector, premium leisure passengers and the Indian diaspora across Europe and beyond.

“India remains a strategically important market for the Lufthansa Group, and we are delighted to welcome SWISS to Bengaluru — one of the world’s leading technology and innovation hubs,” said Kevin Markette, senior director, regional sales (South Asia), Lufthansa Group.

He said the new route would strengthen connectivity from southern India while giving passengers access to SWISS’ premium onboard experience and seamless onward connections through Zurich.

The carrier said travellers on the Bengaluru-Zurich route would have access to SWISS’ services across First, Business and Economy Class, including premium lounges, Swiss cuisine and integrated transfer connectivity through Zurich Airport.

The move also reflects intensifying competition among global airlines to capture high-yield traffic from India, where outbound international travel demand has remained resilient despite global economic uncertainty.

For Bangalore International Airport Limited, the addition of SWISS further strengthens Bengaluru’s position as a major international aviation gateway.

The Lufthansa Group currently operates more than 70 weekly flights to and from India in its Winter 2026 schedule through its portfolio of airlines, as European carriers continue expanding capacity to tap rising demand from Indian travellers.

Tickets for the Bengaluru-Zurich flights are now open for booking through SWISS’ official website and travel partners.
