Shocking! Cricketers got robbed at gunpoint - details inside

The Caribbean Premier League has been rocked by a frightening incident in Barbados. Two St Kitts and Nevis Patriots players and a CPL official were robbed at gunpoint in the early hours of September 9. The group was returning from a private event and had stopped to grab food on their way back to the hotel when the attack occurred, just before 3 am. According to reports, the robbers went after jewellery and valuables. In the struggle, a gun was dropped and later recovered by the police. Thankfully, none of the victims were injured, but the ordeal has left the cricket community shaken. Authorities have not disclosed the names of the players or the official involved. The Barbados Police Service confirmed that the weapon has been secured and an active investigation is underway to identify those responsible. Meanwhile, the Patriots have reassured that their players and the CPL staff member are safe and cooperating with the police. A CPL spokesperson also addressed the incident, stressing that the league’s main priority is the well-being of everyone affected. The matter, they added, is now entirely in the hands of the police. Despite the scare, the Patriots are preparing for their upcoming fixture against the Barbados Royals at Kensington Oval on September 11, although security around the team has been tightened and monitoring has been increased. The franchise has chosen not to reveal the identities of those caught up in the ordeal, maintaining privacy during the investigation.
