Serena Williams's tennis comeback: 44-year-old legend pairs with 19-year-old for Queen’s Club tournament

NEW DELHI: After nearly four years away from professional tennis, Serena Williams is set to return to the court. The 44-year-old tennis legend will compete in doubles at the Queen’s Club tournament in London next week, partnering with Canadian teenager Victoria Mboko, who is 19 years old, 25 years younger than Williams.Mboko shared the news on Instagram after practising with Williams on the grass courts in west London. Posting a photo of the two together, she wrote: “The Queen is back.”Mboko said she is thrilled to play alongside one of the sport’s greatest players. In her post, she wrote: “An honor to share the court with one of the greatest athletes of all time this week.” She also added, “Even more excited to play doubles together! Tennis is pretty special.”The young Canadian has long admired Williams. Speaking at the French Open last week, Mboko said: “I really look up to her. I mean, the fact that she even knows me is very exciting.”Williams, who won 23 Grand Slam singles titles during her career, stepped away from professional tennis in 2022. Her appearance at Queen’s Club marks a highly anticipated comeback, although she has not yet confirmed whether she plans to compete at Wimbledon or the U.S. Open in 2026.For now, fans will get their first look at Williams back in action as she teams up with one of tennis’ rising young stars in London.
