Matthew Kuhnemann reported for suspect bowling action

NEW DELHI: Cricket Australia announced on Wednesday that Australian spinner Matthew Kuhnemann, who played a crucial part in the Test series victory in Sri Lanka, had been cited for a suspect bowling action.
To find out if his actions are legitimate, left-armer Kuhnemann, who claimed 16 wickets when Steve Smith‘s team won the two-Test series this month, will need to submit to obligatory tests.
“The Australian team was notified of the match officials’ referral following the second Test against Sri Lanka in Galle and will support Matt through the process of clearing this matter,” CA said.
Since making his professional debut in 2017, Kuhnemann has participated in 124 games, including 55 T20 Big Bash League matches, four ODIs, and five Test matches.
“This is the first time in those eight years of professional cricket that his action has been questioned,” CA said.
“Cricket Australia will liaise closely with the International Cricket Council and independent experts in line with ICC regulations.”
A player’s bowling arm may flex up to 15 degrees, but any more than that is prohibited by cricket regulations.
According to local media, the 28-year-old will probably undergo testing at Brisbane’s Centre of Excellence, and the results will be sent back to the ICC.
If his action is found to be illegal, he will be prohibited from bowling until it is changed and a follow-up evaluation is completed.
