NEW DELHI: Rajasthan Royals pacer Jofra Archer made a thunderous statement on Wednesday by clean bowling Gujarat Titans skipper Shubman Gill with a 147.7 kmph scorcher during their IPL 2025 encounter in Ahmedabad.

Bowling the third over of the Titans’ innings, Archer delivered a peach that nipped in sharply and rattled Gill’s off-stump as he shaped for a forward push. The GT captain, who had scored an unbeaten 61 in the previous game, was dismissed for just 2 off 3 balls — his first single-digit score in five matches this season.

This was the third time Archer dismissed Gill in IPL history, having conceded only 10 runs in 15 deliveries bowled to him so far.
The dismissal continued Archer’s remarkable comeback after a poor start to the season, where he recorded the most expensive spell in IPL history (0/76 vs SRH). Since then, he’s bounced back, notably with figures of 3/25 against Punjab Kings before today’s impact performance.

Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson won the toss and opted to field. The Royals replaced Wanindu Hasaranga (personal reasons) with Fazalhaq Farooqi, while Gujarat Titans named an unchanged XI.
