NEW DELHI: Mumbai Indians pacer Jasprit Bumrah shared a touching moment with franchise legend Lasith Malinga after surpassing him to become MI’s all-time leading wicket-taker. Following a fiery spell of 4/22 against Lucknow Super Giants at Wankhede Stadium, Bumrah moved past Malinga’s 170 wickets, now boasting 174 scalps for the five-time champions.
After MI’s emphatic 54-run win, a heartwarming clip posted by the franchise on social media platforms captured a special exchange between the two icons.

When praised, Bumrah humbly said, “Malinga is still better,” to which the Sri Lankan maestro replied, “He is the best.” The video quickly went viral, delighting cricket fans across the globe.

Inside the jubilant MI dressing room, seasoned left-arm pacer Trent Boult awarded Bumrah – the Best Bowler trophy. Urged to give a speech, Bumrah kept it simple: “We are not complacent, we are really clinical. Let’s keep the momentum going.”

Earlier, Ryan Rickelton‘s blistering 58 laid the platform for Mumbai’s 215/7 before Suryakumar Yadav’s fireworks added the finishing touches. During Lucknow’s chase, Bumrah’s relentless spell shattered the Super Giants’ top and middle order, sealing MI’s fifth consecutive win.
