IPL: Nitish Kumar Reddy breaks silence on SRH exit rumours

India all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy on Sunday rubbished reports that he is seeking to move from his IPL franchise, Sunrisers Hyderabad, in the Indian Premier League (IPL) to another franchise. A section of the media had reported that the 22-year-old all-rounder was looking to leave the Pat Cummins-led side and sign up with a new franchise ahead of the 2026 edition.

“I tend to stay away from the noise, but some things deserve clarity. My connection with SRH is built on trust, respect, and years of shared passion. I’ll always stand by this team,” Reddy posted on ‘X’ on Sunday. Reddy enjoyed a breakout 2024 IPL season with the Sunrisers, which led to him being picked for India’s T20I side against Bangladesh and then for the Test side in Australia, where he scored a hundred at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in the fourth Test. Returning from an injury, Reddy was below par in the 2025 edition of the IPL. In 13 matches, the right-hander managed to score just 182 runs at an average of 22.75 and a strike rate of 118.95, while taking just two wickets with his medium-pace bowling.Quiz: Who’s that IPL player? The young all-rounder had to recently return from England after suffering a knee injury ahead of the fourth Test in Manchester against England. The injury meant that the Andhra cricketer was ruled out of the ongoing Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. “All-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy has been ruled out of the remaining two Tests owing to a left knee injury. Nitish will fly back home, and the team wishes him a speedy recovery,” the BCCI said in its official statement. In the two Tests that he played in England, Reddy scored 45 runs and took three wickets. He was replaced by Mumbai’s seam-bowling all-rounder Shardul Thakur for the fourth Test. Reddy will obviously miss the upcoming Duleep Trophy due to his injury.
