IPL 2026 playoffs venues to be decided in a day or two: Devajit Saikia

Mumbai: The BCCI will announce the venues of the IPL 2026 playoffs in a couple of days’ time. “We are working on what could be the appropriate venue for the IPL playoffs and the final. So, we will take another two days’ time,” BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia told reporters at the BCCI HQ here on Saturday, just after announcing the team for the 2026 Women’s T20 World Cup. The BCCI secretary refused to divulge if the designated venues – Mullanpur and Bengaluru – by virtue of Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Punjab Kings being the finalists and champions last year, will host the playoff ties. “You can keep guessing, but I am not going to give you a reply. We will take a call in two days’ time,” he said. Mullanpur hosted Qualifier 1 and the Eliminator, while the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad (Eden Gardens in Kolkata was supposed to stage the final as per convention) staged Qualifier 2 and the final out of turn in last year’s season, which was halted for a while due to the Indo-Pak war. The BCCI has not released the dates of the IPL 2026 playoffs, except announcing that the final will be held on May 31.
