IPL 2026 Orange Cap: KL Rahul overtakes Abhishek Sharma to reclaim top spot; Sanju Samson jumps to fifth

NEW DELHI: Delhi Capitals opener KL Rahul will be disappointed with his and his team’s performance against Chennai Super Kings at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Tuesday, as they suffered an eight-wicket drubbing at home. Rahul contributed just 12 off 13 balls for the home side, but those runs were enough for him to reclaim the top spot in the IPL 2026 Orange Cap race.Rahul leapfrogged Sunrisers Hyderabad’s Abhishek Sharma to wear the Orange Cap again. He now has 445 runs from 10 games at an average of 49.44 and a strike rate of 180.89. He has scored one hundred and three fifties so far in 10 innings.SRH opener Abhishek is just five runs behind Rahul in second, with 440 runs from 10 games. He has scored his runs at an average of 48.89 and a strike rate of 206.57, including one hundred and three fifties.Abhishek’s teammate Heinrich Klaasen is third in the IPL 2026 Orange Cap race with 425 runs from 10 games. He has scored those runs at an average of 53.13 and a strike rate of 156.82, with four half-centuries.Rajasthan Royals teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is next on the list in fourth, with 404 runs from 10 games. The youngster has scored his runs at a stunning strike rate of 237.64 this season, including one hundred and two fifties.CSK opener Sanju Samson, who won the Player of the Match against DC, scored a match-winning 87 not out off 52 balls to take his season tally to 402 runs from 10 games. Samson jumped to fifth in the Orange Cap standings with this match-winning effort. The CSK batter has scored at an average of 57.43 and a strike rate of 167.50, and has two hundreds and one fifty this season.
