Sunrisers Hyderabad suffered their seventh defeat in IPL 2025, losing to Gujarat Titans by 38 runs at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Friday. The Pat Cummins-led side remain ninth on the IPL points table with six points after 10 matches, severely diminishing their chances of qualifying for the playoffs.
With four matches remaining, SRH can achieve a maximum of 14 points if they win all their games. However, their qualification prospects look bleak as Mumbai Indians, Gujarat Titans, and RCB have already secured 14 points, while Punjab Kings have 13 points after 10 matches.

SRH’s path to playoffs requires them to win their remaining matches by substantial margins. Additionally, no more than three teams should finish with more than 14 points for SRH to have a chance at qualifying through net run rate.

The team’s journey in IPL 2025 has been inconsistent. They started with a victory against Rajasthan Royals but faced defeats against Lucknow Super Giants, Delhi Capitals, and Kolkata Knight Riders. Their second win came against Punjab Kings, followed by losses to Mumbai Indians twice.
SRH managed to defeat Chennai Super Kings in Chennai but lost their recent encounter, on Friday, against Gujarat Titans. Their overall record stands at three wins and seven losses in the tournament so far.

SRH’s season will conclude with two away matches – against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at M Chinnaswamy Stadium on May 13 and versus Lucknow Super Giants at Ekana Stadium on May 18.
