“As this was his team’s first offence of the season under Article 2.22 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct, which pertains to minimum over-rate offences, Patel was fined INR 12 lakhs,” stated the IPL media release.
Delhi Capitals, who had won their first four matches of the season and topped the points table, dropped to second place after this defeat.

Chasing a target of 206, Delhi Capitals appeared to be in control at 135-2 when Karun Nair was dismissed for 89. However, leg-spinner Karn initiated a collapse that resulted in Delhi being bowled out for 193.
Nair, who entered as an Impact Sub when the score was 0/1, impressed in his first IPL match in three years. He scored his first IPL fifty in seven years, reaching the milestone in just 22 balls, including two sixes against Jasprit Bumrah in a single over.

The match witnessed a dramatic finish in the 19th over. With 23 runs needed from the final 12 balls, Ashutosh Sharma hit two boundaries off Bumrah, but three consecutive run-outs in the last three balls of the over sealed Delhi’s fate.
This victory marked Mumbai Indians’ second win in six matches this season, helping them get back to winning ways in the tournament.
