Ranveer Allahbadia, who was embroiled in legal proceedings after his controversy over his lewd remark at India’s Got Latent, was snapped at the office of the Crime Branch, Guwahati Police Commissionerate in Guwahati on Friday, March 7. As he arrived at the office, he was mobbed by the reporters trying to get his reaction. He was summoned in connection with a case related to the comedy show hosted by Samay Raina. His visit has come over a week after Youtuber Ashish Chanchlani appeared before the Guwahati Crime Branch. He has also been named in the case of Guwahati Crime Branch registered in connection with India’s Got Latent.

YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia was summoned by Guwahati Police on March 4, but he skipped and instead appeared today. Questioning is currently underway at the Crime Branch.

The Supreme Court on March 3 lifted the ban on YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia’s show amid the ongoing India’s Got Talent controversy, urging him to maintain “decency” on his podcast. The court requested Ranveer to submit an affidavit to ensure that no objectionable content would be present in his episodes.

“He is saying there are multiple employees, so there are families whose livelihood is in question. Subject to maintaining morality and decency, if he wants to run a program, we can say he can,” said the Supreme Court.

“We have some excellent comedians in Bollywood and good writers in terms of writing humour. Its element of creativity,” the bench added.

This development comes as the apex court earlier criticised Allahbadia over his lewd remark, stating that while there is no regulatory framework leading to censorship, using vulgar language cannot be considered “Talent.”

Earlier Allabhadia, in his statement to Maharashtra Cyber officials, admitted his mistake and took sole blame for causing the controversy.  The YouTuber mentioned that his attendance on the show was because of his friendship with Samay Raina. He straight up took the blame and said that it was his mistake to say the line which has caused controversy.

He further claimed that he did not charge money to go to the show. He told the police officials that the the YouTuber community is friends with each other which is why they make appearances on each other’s shows as a favour and do not charge a fee for it.

Ranveer Allahbadia and Ashish Chanchalani appeared separately at the cyber headquarters in Navi Mumbai after skipping previous summons issued by the agency and were grilled for around 5 hours by the officials on February 24.
