He is an extraordinary captain, and he should become captain soon.”Iyer has established himself as a consistent performer in India’s ODI team. He emerged as the highest run-scorer for India during their recent ICC Champions Trophy 2025 campaign.In his ODI career spanning 70 matches, Iyer has accumulated 2845 runs in 65 innings. His impressive record includes five centuries and 22 fifties, maintaining an average of 48.22.During the 2023 ICC Men’s ODI World Cup, Iyer contributed significantly with 530 runs in 11 matches. This included a crucial century of 105 runs against New Zealand in the first semifinal at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium.Gill, currently ranked as the world’s top ODI batsman, has scored 2775 runs in 55 ODIs for India. His ODI record features eight centuries and 15 fifties, with an outstanding average of 59.04.His highest score in ODIs stands at 208 runs, achieved from 149 deliveries. This remarkable performance highlights his capabilities as a top-order batsman for India.
