India, US push trade talks forward as Goyal hails ‘constructive’ discussions – Firstpost


Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Wednesday said he held a series of meetings with US Trade Representative (USTR) Ambassador Jamieson Greer and his delegation to review the progress of ongoing India-US trade discussions.

In a post on X, Goyal said the two sides discussed the current state of trade negotiations and explored avenues to further strengthen the economic partnership between the two countries.

“Concluded a series of meetings with @USTradeRep Ambassador Jamieson Greer and his delegation this morning. We reviewed the progress of the ongoing India–U.S. trade discussions and explored avenues to further deepen our economic partnership,” Goyal wrote.

The minister also appreciated Ambassador Greer’s leadership and the sustained efforts of negotiating teams from both sides, saying the discussions were moving ahead in a “constructive and forward-looking manner.”

The latest engagement comes as New Delhi and Washington continue efforts to expand bilateral trade cooperation and address key issues to strengthen their economic relationship.
