Jasprit Bumrah has explained why his bowling technique is different and revealed a big secret about his bowling.Former England cricketer and Sky Sports commentator Ian Ward asked Bumrah: “What’s the feeling off the finger? Can you just explain to youngsters what the feeling is? Which finger does it come off? Jimmy Anderson talks about it coming off this one (index). Is that the same for you?”Bumrah replied: “I’m slightly different. I don’t use my index finger; I use the middle finger all the time.”“So I try to flick the ball — when I want to bowl an outswinger, I flick it this way, and when I want to bowl the inswinger, I flick it inward — because I can’t usually change my arm path too much due to the way my bowling style is.“Yes, so I usually use my second finger for whichever swing I want to bowl because that’s how I’ve always bowled. I’ve learned over the years that I can’t really change my arm path.

Jasprit Bumrah press conference: Lashes out at critics, dropped catches and no balls

“I do change my position on the crease depending on what I want to bowl, but I try to flick it when I want to move it either way.”Bumrah was India’s standout bowler on day three, as his figures of 5 for 83 in 24.4 overs — his 14th five-wicket haul in Tests — ensured India secured a narrow six-run lead after bowling out England for 465 in their first innings. Bumrah, who picked up his third five-wicket haul in England, has now equalled the legendary Kapil Dev for the most fifers by an Indian in away Tests (12).
