ICC T20I rankings: India retain no. 1 spot - where are Asian neighbours Pakistan and Sri Lanka?

India continue to lead the ICC men’s T20I rankings, staying ahead of England and Australia in the latest update released on Tuesday. The Indian team recently made history by winning their third T20 World Cup title in March and becoming the first side to defend the trophy successfully. The tournament was jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka.“The latest rankings rate all matches played since May 2025 at 100 per cent and those of the previous two years at 50 per cent,” the ICC said on its website.India currently have 275 rating points.England are second with 262 points, while Australia are close behind in third with 258.The gap between India and England has reduced slightly, but India still remain comfortably at the top.

Where are Asian neighbours Pakistan and Sri Lanka?

The top seven teams have kept their positions in the rankings. New Zealand are fourth with 247 points, followed by South Africa (244), Pakistan (240) and West Indies (233).Sri Lanka slipped to ninth place after losing six rating points, while Bangladesh climbed to eighth with 225 points. Afghanistan are 10th with 220 points, just behind Sri Lanka. Zimbabwe and Ireland continue to hold the 11th and 12th spots.“Cricket’s rising force in North America, the USA have leapfrogged two spots after gaining six points, and see themselves rise to the 13th place, overtaking Netherlands and Scotland who are at 14th and 15th ranks respectively,” the ICC said.

Namibia stayed at 16th place. Nepal moved up to 17th ahead of UAE, while Oman rose to 19th by overtaking Canada.“The number of teams in the rankings is down from 102 to 98 as Fiji, Gambia, Greece and Israel didn’t make the cut as they did not play the requisite eight T20Is in the past three years,” the ICC said.
