Historic! Julian Cash and Lloyd Glasspool become first British pair of modern era to win men’s doubles title at Wimbledon 2025

Julian Cash and Lloyd Glasspool made history at Wimbledon by becoming the first all-British pair in 89 years to clinch the men’s doubles title on Saturday. They secured their victory against Rinky Hijikata and David Pel with a score of 6-2, 7-6 (3) on Centre Court.The last British duo to achieve this feat was Pat Hughes and Raymond Tuckey in 1936. “When you say it, it sounds incredible,” Glasspool remarked during the on-court interview.The British pair’s success at Wimbledon follows their impressive victories at Queen’s and Eastbourne during the grass-court season.Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. “There was a lot of pressure on our shoulders, and the fact that we’ve been able to do what everyone has been talking about is surreal,” Cash shared.This Wimbledon final marked the first Grand Slam final appearance for both Cash and Glasspool.For Hijikata, this match presented an opportunity to secure his second Grand Slam doubles title, following his victory at the 2023 Australian Open with Jason Kubler.Interestingly, Pel revealed that he and his partner Hijikata were complete strangers before the tournament. “It was our first time actually speaking on the day the tournament started,” the Dutchman disclosed.
