Have more clarity now, claims actor Vikrant Massey

Post a break, actor Vikrant Massey is back and claims he has more clarity about what he wanted to do in both his personal and professional life.

The “12th Fail” star had last year announced a hiatus from acting to focus on his family and health. The break, he said, should not be misinterpreted as his retirement. “My break is over. I took it for six months. I’ve far more clarity in everything, not just in my profession but in my personal life as well. Acting is a very important part of my life, but there are other aspects of my life which are equally important. There’s this form of clarity,” Massey said.

During his time off, the actor said he spent time with his one-year-old son, Vardaan. He also re-watched all of his films and identified areas where he needs to improve his skills.

“I’ve seen all my films multiple times and have made notes on things that don’t work anymore… The idea was to better myself as an actor. Besides the physical and mental burnout, there was stagnancy. I felt I was stagnant with my performances and was getting repetitive. Hence, I saw all my films, and there were things which I could have done better. I’m well-rested, there’s a fresh perspective moving forward with the films that I’ll be shooting next year.”

Massey further stressed the importance of maintaining a healthy work-life balance, especially when one has a family. “I can’t be shooting for 10 months a year; that’s unfair to them (family). The idea is to have that work-life balance, not just read about it or hear other people talk about it, but implement it myself,” he said.

He is currently busy promoting “Aankhon ki Gustaakhiyan”, which marks the acting debut of Shanaya Kapoor, daughter of actor Sanjay Kapoor and Maheep Kapoor.
