After months of rumours and endless speculation, we now know everything about Samsung’s next generation of wearables. Three new devices were announced at Samsung’s big Unpacked event last week, including a Galaxy Watch8, Galaxy Watch8 Classic and Galaxy Watch Ultra (2025). All of these gadgets feature a faster processor, improved displays, refreshed designs – the Galaxy Watch 8 is said to be 11 percent slimmer than last year’s Watch 7.
Like all wearable updates, there’s also better health tracking. In fact, users will now get a daily Energy Score, sleep coaching and help when heading out for a run. There’s another bonus when upgrading. Samsung says that its Galaxy Watch8 series is the world’s first smartwatch that measures antioxidant levels.
All owners need to do is place their thumb on the sensor to measure the carotenoid levels in the skin. This then reveals how healthy the current diet and lifestyles are.
The new Galaxy Watch8 starts from £319, with the latest Galaxy Watch8 Classic costing £449.
That more expensive model comes with a Rotating Bezel design that makes it easier to interact with the screen.
Samsung also boasts that it features the improved Dynamic Lug System, which ensures that the Classic fits snugly on the wrist.
Finally, there’s the ultimate Ultra (2025) which gets long battery life, a more rugged design and bonus extras such as better water resistance. It also now comes in a Titanium Blue colour.
The Ultra costs £599.
Clearly, none of these wearables are a bargain but there is a simple way to reduce the costs. As long as you have an old smartwatch, you can give it to Samsung and get money off the new model.
