First series as World Champions: India Women to host Sri Lanka for five-match T20I series after Bangladesh tour postponement

NEW DELHI: The BCCI on Friday announced that India will host Sri Lanka for a five-match women’s T20I series in December, marking the team’s first international assignment since lifting the 2025 Women’s ODI World Cup last month. The five T20Is will be split across two venues — Visakhapatnam and Thiruvananthapuram. The series begins in Visakhapatnam on December 21, with the second match scheduled at the same venue on December 23. The teams will then travel south to Thiruvananthapuram for the final three fixtures on December 26, 28, and 30.

  • 1st T20I – Dec 21, Visakhapatnam
  • 2nd T20I – Dec 23, Visakhapatnam
  • 3rd T20I – Dec 26, Thiruvananthapuram
  • 4th T20I – Dec 28, Thiruvananthapuram
  • 5th T20I – Dec 30, Thiruvananthapuram

Visakhapatnam recently hosted India’s matches against South Africa and Australia during the 2025 Women’s ODI World Cup, drawing strong crowds and offering ideal conditions for white-ball cricket. The return of top-tier women’s international cricket to both venues is expected to further grow interest following India’s historic World Cup triumph.For India, the series will serve as preparation as well as an opportunity to test squad depth after the high of the World Cup campaign. Sri Lanka, meanwhile, will look to challenge the newly crowned world champions and build momentum ahead of a busy 2026 season.
