ExtraEmily pushed back against criticism from online users after a clip of her showing her resume went viral, arguing that many people judging her behavior were ignoring her academic and professional achievements. The Twitch streamer addressed the reaction during a June 16 livestream, saying she was surprised that a video about her resume received positive attention while still drawing comments from people who called her a “toddler.”

ExtraEmily responds after resume clip sparks debate among viewers

Speaking on stream, ExtraEmily said she expected criticism but was caught off guard by how much discussion her resume created online. “I finally had an okay Twitter thread about me, where I was showing off my resume. Oh my gosh, guys. But half the comments are like, ‘Still acting like a toddler.’ Yeah, but I’m like, ‘I’m more accomplished than you …’ Sorry, but I was like, wait, I’m surprised that this clip of me showing my resume actually got likes.”While some users continued to criticize her energetic online personality, many others focused on her qualifications and work history. Several comments on X praised her accomplishments. “Yeah can’t hate on this, I know people don’t like her but she was accomplished before farming likes,” wrote @iamghostdesigns. “Genuinely a real … resume. She’s a smart person,” added @JohnBummit.Another user, @PurrTaco, commented, “She is actually too smart just pretends to be …” “Holy she is actually goated, will not hate anymore,” wrote @Benjamintheo66.

ExtraEmily’s Columbia University record and work experience draw praise

During the stream, ExtraEmily walked viewers through parts of her resume and highlighted her educational background. She attended Columbia University, where she graduated with a 3.94 GPA. She also received honors including Magna Cum Laude, the Outstanding Student Service Award, and membership in Tau Beta Pi.“Education: Columbia University in the City of New York. GPA: 3.94 out of 4.0. Honors: Magna Cum Laude, Outstanding Student Service Award, Tau Beta Pi… I was President of my sorority,” she said. She also spoke about her previous jobs, including positions at Citigroup and Columbia University.“Citigroup… Security Services Vulnerability Assessment Analyst. Site Research Analytics Summer Analyst. I worked at the business school as a Database Manager at the Paul Milstein Centre for Real Estate. Then I was a Research Analyst here,” she explained. When discussing the skills section of her resume, ExtraEmily joked about her technical abilities.“And then my skills: Mandarin! (laughs) Java? (laughs) I can’t code for … Python? R? I don’t even know what R is!” The discussion comes a few months after ExtraEmily stepped away from streaming in April 2026 following online allegations that she had used viewbots to inflate her audience numbers.
