Chinese SUV maker Jetour bets on localised product offerings to hasten go-global drive

Chinese sports utility vehicle maker Jetour, with an eye on becoming a global SUV powerhouse, plans to accelerate its overseas expansion in the Middle East with products tailored to local motorists.
Already present in more than 100 countries and regions after seven years in operation, Jetour said at a recent fan gathering in Abu Dhabi that it was banking on local research and development (R&D) efforts to design and build world-class SUVs for countries in the Middle East.

“We are listening closely to user feedback through product experience,” Jetour said in a written reply to the Post. “We will deliver more than just cars [in overseas markets]”, adding that the company would bring premium services, as well as supply chains and lifestyle campaigns tailored for each market.

Jetour, which builds both petrol-powered and hybrid SUVs, had hosted a fan gathering on Saturday at the Liwa International Festival – an annual winter event in Abu Dhabi that attracts about 600,000 visitors – to support its business in the Middle East, where the firm offers market-specific features such as full-vehicle heat-insulated glass.

It was part of Jetour’s focus to bring motorists in the region more lifestyle experiences through its smart cockpits and artificial intelligence-assisted driving systems, backed by new battery technologies and automotive chips.

Jetour’s participation at the event underscored the company’s efforts to burnish its credentials as a major supplier of off-road vehicles to customers in the region. According to the firm, its vehicles developed for the Middle East also featured side-window sunshades, dual sun visors and enhanced cooling performance.
