If you are in the market for a new iPhone, there are plenty of tempting offers available right now. Argos is just one UK store that is currently selling the iPhone 16 for just £699—that’s £100 off the original price. If that wasn’t tempting enough, there’s also £50 off the iPhone 16e, which brings the price of this device (which only launched this year) down to just £549.
These are decent discounts that are clearly proving popular, and it’s not just Argos offering money off. Amazon, Very, and John Lewis are also offering similar price cuts. In fact, Amazon beats Argos by £1 with the iPhone 16 currently available for just £698.

As a quick reminder, the iPhone 16 is Apple’s most recent flagship with it featuring a dual-lens rear camera, speedy A18 processor, toughed glass design and 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR display.

So now is clearly a good time to invest thanks to that cheaper price but these deals do come with a warning. Apple is about to hold a major event where it’s almost certain to reveal a new iPhone 17 range.
These will almost certainly be faster, more intelligent, last longer and could get improved cameras. Rumours are also rife that along with a standard and Pro iPhone 17, Apple will also show off a super skinny iPhone 17 Air during its event.
If true, this device will take aim at Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Edge which launched earlier this year and offers a more pocket-friendly design.
Of course, Apple never reveals anything ahead of the main event. What we do know is that the grand unveiling will take place on Tuesday September 9 with things kicking off from 6pm BST.
