The world built its old energy economy on Middle Eastern oil, and the next energy revolution will be powered by Indian sunshine, Anant Ambani, Executive Director, RIL said at Reliance Industries’ Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2026, outlining the company’s roadmap for a cleaner and self-reliant energy future.
Reliance Industries is accelerating its energy transformation strategy with a focus on new energy, green fuels, technology-led operations and reducing India’s dependence on imported energy.
Speaking at the AGM, Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani said India’s energy demand is rising rapidly across all segments, but the country continues to depend on overseas sources for nearly 70 per cent of its energy needs, making it vulnerable to global geopolitical uncertainties.
To address this challenge, Ambani said Reliance is working on an integrated and future-focused plan to boost India’s energy resources and strengthen the country’s energy security.
He added that abundant green energy will play a key role in helping India become a global leader in Green AI and green jobs, creating new opportunities in the emerging clean technology ecosystem.
At the centre of Reliance’s energy mission is Jamnagar, which the company aims to transform into the world’s first autonomous refinery, powered by advanced digital technologies, automation and artificial intelligence.
Reliance is also expanding its new energy portfolio with a focus on renewable energy solutions and next-generation fuels, including green ammonia, as part of its long-term decarbonisation strategy.
The company’s integrated energy roadmap brings together exploration and production, refining excellence, clean energy manufacturing and advanced technologies to support India’s journey towards energy independence.
Reliance’s latest energy push highlights its ambition to transform Jamnagar from a global refining hub into a future-ready energy ecosystem, while positioning India as a major player in the global clean energy transition.
