Amazon offers new reason to ditch your Fire TV Stick and try something

Amazon’s popular Fire TV Sticks remain a top choice for anyone wanting to stream content straight to their televisions. The latest models include speedy processors, fast Wi-Fi 6 technology and a remote that offers full voice controls – via Alexa – plus quick keys that launch services such as Netflix with just one touch.

There’s plenty to like but, right now, Amazon isn’t offering any deals on its own-brand devices which means those wanting one will have to pay full price.

Luckily, there is a cheaper way to upgrade any existing TVs that aren’t that smart, thanks to an Amazon discount on some rival streaming sticks.

The team at Roku recently released its new Streaming Stick and Streaming Stick Plus which both get a very sleek design, neat remote control and full access to apps including Disney+, Netflix and Prime Video.

Another bonus of these devices is that they can get enough power from the TV, which means you don’t need to plug them into a mains socket for them to work. The standard version offers HD playback, with the Plus model bringing pin-sharp 4K visuals to the screen.

When these new Roku Sticks were announced earlier this year, they started from £29.99, but that cost has now been cut to just £24.99 via Amazon’s website.

There’s even better news for those wanting the better Plus model with this device dropped by £15.

It’s worth noting that these latest Roku sticks don’t offer some features found on the Fire TV Stick Max, with that Amazon streamer getting the clever Ambient Experience, which turns TVs into a work of art.

However, the Fire TV Max currently costs £69.99 – that’s more than double the cost of Roku’s latest streamers.
