WWE icon Hulk Hogan has died at the age of 71 following a cardiac arrest at his Florida home. The wrestling legend, born Terry Gene Bollea, passed away on Thursday morning in Clearwater, where emergency responders were called after reports of a cardiac emergency as per reports from NBC News and TMZ. Several police and medical units were seen outside Hogan’s residence, and he was reportedly taken out on a stretcher. His death comes weeks after his wife, Sky, denied rumours about his declining health, insisting his heart was “strong” after surgery. Hogan had undergone a major heart operation in June, and earlier this year, he had been hospitalised for long-standing neck and back issues. The six-time WWE Champion was one of the biggest names in professional wrestling, playing a pivotal role in the company’s global rise during the 1980s. Known for his charisma, signature yellow-and-red attire, and unforgettable rivalries, Hogan became a household name through his in-ring performances and appearances in movies, television, and his animated series. News of his death triggered an outpouring of grief from across the wrestling world and beyond. WWE, in an official post on X, said it was “saddened to learn” of Hogan’s passing, calling him “one of pop culture’s most recognizable figures” who helped WWE achieve global recognition. Ric Flair, Hogan’s longtime friend and fellow wrestling legend, said he was “absolutely shocked” by the news and described Hogan as an “incredible athlete, talent, friend, and father.” More reactions from the wrestling community and fans are expected as tributes continue to pour in for one of the most influential figures in WWE history.
