Abhishek Sharma continued his red-hot form at the Asia Cup, smashing yet another quick half-century to surpass another of Yuvraj Singh’s records. The left-hander reached his fifty in just 25 balls against Bangladesh, marking the fifth time he has scored a T20I half-century in 25 or fewer deliveries.

Beware Pakistan! Abhishek Sharma hits massive sixes in the nets

With this feat, he moved past Yuvraj’s tally of four, joining an elite list topped by his captain Suryakumar Yadav (7) and ODI skipper Rohit Sharma (6). KL Rahul has done it three times. The innings followed Abhishek’s record-breaking knock against Pakistan, where his 24-ball half-century overtook Yuvraj’s 29-ball effort in 2012 as the fastest by an Indian in T20Is against their arch-rivals. He also scored 74 in that game, the highest by an Indian against Pakistan after Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir. Against Bangladesh, Abhishek once again dominated from the start, putting on a 77-run opening stand with vice-captain Shubman Gill. His knock ended at 75 when he was run out, almost repeating the score he had posted against Pakistan. However, it was not just the runs but also his celebration that caught attention. After using the ‘L’ sign against Pakistan to signify “Love,” Abhishek blew a kiss toward the stands in Dubai. Cameras quickly spotted his sister, Komal Sharma, who was recording her brother’s milestone from the stands.
