Multiple reports doing rounds suggest that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to sack assistant coach Abhishek Nayar but the secretary seems to be gathering details and will have a clear picture only in the next “1-2 days”. When contacted by TimesofIndia.com with the specific query on Nayar, Devajit Saikia said he will have a “clear picture” in the coming days.
“I will give you a clear picture and details in the next 1-2 days,” was Saikia’s one-line response.

Nayar was appointed the side’s assistant coach under head coach Gautam Gambhir just eight months ago but reports suggest his tenure has come to an abrupt end.

Poll

Do you agree with BCCI’s decision to consider sacking assistant coach Abhishek Nayar?

The Indian cricket board beefed up the coaching staff when Sitanshu Kotak was roped in as the batting coach earlier this year but Nayar continued to be with the team, and both were part of the change room during the Champions Trophy campaign in Dubai.
The Indian team’s next assignment is the five-Test series vs England in the month of June.
The series will be preceded by three India A games, with the last fixture being an intra-squad affair.
