Achanta Sharath Kamal announces retirement, to bow out after WTT Contender Chennai
Achanta Sharath Kamal will retire after WTT Star Contender in Chennai.

Indian table tennis champion A Sharath Kamal has decided to end his professional career at the upcoming WTT Contender Chennai, scheduled from March 25 to 30.
“I played my first international tournament in Chennai, I will be playing my last international also in Chennai. This will be my last tournament as a professional athlete,” announced the 42-year-old.

The veteran player has accumulated an impressive collection of medals throughout his career spanning over two decades, including six Commonwealth Games gold medals and two Asian Games bronze medals.
His final Olympic appearance was at the Paris Games last year, marking his fifth participation in the prestigious event.

Achanta Sharath Kamal announces retirement

“I have Commonwealth Games medals and Asian Games medals. Olympic medal is something I don’t have in my cupboard. I hope I can live that dream through the younger talent coming,” shared the accomplished athlete.
Currently ranked 42nd globally, Sharath maintains his position as the highest-ranked Indian player in the International Table Tennis Federation standings.
