The 33-year-old has been in fine form, consistently reaching finals and going deep in big tournaments, including Grand Slams. At the Australian Open, Bhambri partnered with Sweden’s Andre Goransson and delivered solid performances. The pair beat local wildcards James Duckworth and Cruz Hewitt in the opening round, then pulled off an impressive comeback in the second round against Santiago Gonzalez and David Pel. They eventually bowed out in the third round, but the run earned Bhambri crucial ranking points that helped him break into the elite Top 20. Bhambri’s rise has been steady over the past year. In 2025, he reached the US Open semifinals with Michael Venus, narrowly missing out on a final after a close loss to a top British pair. Earlier that season, he won his first ATP 500 title at the Dubai Tennis Championships with Alexei Popyrin, saving multiple match points in a dramatic final against the reigning Grand Slam champions. He also became India’s No. 1 doubles player in 2025, ending Rohan Bopanna’s long reign at the top. Bhambri, who is from Roundglass Tennis Academy, is now set to compete in ATP 500 tournaments in the Middle East, aiming to climb further in the rankings before joining India for the upcoming Davis Cup tie against the Netherlands.
