Tata.ev unveils plan to double charge points to 4 lakh by 2027

TATA.ev, the electric vehicle (EV) brand of Tata Motors, has announced to more than double the charge points from about two lakh currently to four lakh by 2027 to substantially enhance the charging infrastructure in the country.

Since 2019, TATA.ev has been adding charging points by partnering with Tata Group companies and tie ups with Charge Point Operators (CPOs) and Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) under its ‘Open Collaboration’ framework.

Now under Open Collaboration 2.0, TATA.ev will partner with leading CPOs to create a TATA.ev Mega Charger network, which will offer superfast charging and reliability.

It has signed Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with Tata Power, ChargeZone, Statiq and Zeon to operationalize 500 TATA.ev Mega Chargers in 2 years, in the first phase. These chargers will be deployed across key cities and major highways.

Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility, said, “This initiative will enhance the speed, reliability, and user experience of charging, while improving the viability of CPOs and facilitating their growth.”
