Rishabh Pant has recreated a viral commentary moment on Instagram, appearing to be filmed for a brand advertisement. The clip references Sunil Gavaskar‘s commentary outburst during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
Pant, who will lead Lucknow Super Giants in the upcoming Indian Premier League season, faced Gavaskar‘s criticism during the fourth Test at Melbourne Cricket Ground in the 2024-25 series. The incident occurred when Pant attempted an aggressive shot, miscued it, and was caught at third man.

Gavaskar’s immediate reaction in the commentary box was to shout “stupid, stupid, stupid!”

“You’ve got two fielders there, and you still go for that. You missed the previous shot, and look where you’ve been caught. That is throwing away your wicket. You cannot say that is your natural game. I’m sorry. That is not your natural game. This is a stupid shot. This is letting your team down badly. You have to understand the situation as well,” added the Indian legend.
Gavaskar further expressed his disappointment by stating: “He should not be going in that [India’s] dressing room, he should be going in the other dressing room.”

The video clips of both Pant’s recreation and Gavaskar’s original commentary reaction were shared on social media platforms. The incident has gained significant attention among cricket fans and followers.
