Manushi Chhillar appeared at the Republic Youth Summit 2025 on Friday, February 28 where she discussed social media controversy and criticism, and how she deals with the same. She also shared her opinion on how celebs are massively trolled when they share a piece of mind on social media. Recently, Preity Zinta was trolled for her Kumbh Mela visit. A section of the internet criticised the Veer-Zaara actress for “flying in private jets and getting VIP treatment”. Reacting to the same, she said that it’s great to have opinions and recalled how she was taught in school and by her parents that it’s good to be opinionated because you need to take the power of your own life like you need to eventually make your own decisions.
Speaking at Republic Youth Summit, Manushi shared that it’s good to be opinionated but sometimes certain opinions are meant for you to know. “It’s not you don’t need to go out there and, you know, tell everyone about it. The fact that everyone will have different opinions. Everyone will have a different take towards things,” she continued.
“But having said that, there’s one thing in school that we used to get into a lot of debates, especially related to politics. We used to all have our little opinions and our teachers used to encourage us to have opinions and those debates would lead to fights. Best friends would fight. No. This is right… that is right. And then we all came to this conclusion. You know what? Everyone’s going to keep their own religious and political opinions to themselves. And if you’re sharing it, we will be respectful to the other person,” she recalled.
So per Manushi, it’s important to have opinions and it’s also alright to let people know, but there is always another side to it.
In the same conversation, the Operation Valentine actress shared that she doesn’t share her opinion on social media and believes they are for her to know. “I don’t need to go and tell people out there. But just because celebrities put their opinion out there doesn’t mean it’s the truth of my life. I don’t think that’s true,” she continued. She further stated that sometimes celebs are “targeted a little too much”.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Manushi will be next seen in Tehran, alongside John Abraham. She is also rumoured to be the leading lady in Saif Ali Khan’s Race 4.
