Congress MPs – DK Suresh, Nakul Nath and Deepak Baij – were suspended from the Lok Sabha on Thursday for unruly behaviour

Three more Congress MPs including DK Suresh, Nakul Nath and Deepak Baij were suspended from the Lok Sabha on Thursday.

The Opposition lawmakers were expelled for unruly behaviour.

The total number of Opposition MPs suspended from the Parliament now stands at 146 with 100 lawmakers alone from the Lok Sabha against whom the action has been taken.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi moved a motion for the suspension of Suresh, Baij and Nath.

“This House having taken serious note of misconduct of Deepak Baij, D K Suresh, Nakul Nath in utter disregard to the House and authority of the Chair through display of placards, entering into the Well of the House…may be suspended from the House for remaining session,” Joshi said.

The suspension of more Opposition MPs comes hours after the I.N.D.I.A bloc marched from the Parliament to Vijay Chowk against the government.

The lawmakers on Thursday were expelled as they continued their protest showing placards, shouting slogans and tearing papers and throwing them at the Speaker chair.

Earlier on Thursday, the Lok Sabha passed the Chief Election Commissioner and Other Election Commissioners (Appointment, Conditions of Service, and Term of Office) Bill, 2023.

The Opposition MPs were protesting the 13 December Parliament security breach. They are demanding a discussion on the matter and a statement from Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
