After 5 years of wedding drama, Yuzi and Dhanashree officially headed towards the final stage of divorce. Today, the Bombay High Court approved their request to waive the six-month cooling-off period. The court has instructed the family court to rule on their divorce petition tomorrow, 20 March.
Yuzvendra Chahal and Dhanashree Verma’s love story began during the COVID-19 lockdown in 2020. With no matches to play, Chahal, like many cricketers, stayed home and grew restless. While browsing social media, he discovered Dhanashree’s dance videos, sparking their connection.
In an interview on Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 11, Dhanashree shared how their relationship started. “During the lockdown, no matches were happening, and all the cricketers were sitting at home and getting frustrated,” she explained. “During that time, Yuzi decided one fine day that he wanted to learn dance. He had seen my dance videos on social media… he approached me to be my student. I agreed to teach him.”
A professional student-teacher relationship between Chahal and Dhanashree soon turned into something deeper. During a conversation with Ranveer Allahbadia, Chahal admitted he was mesmerised by everything about Dhanashree. With determination, he told his parents and made his intentions clear to her, saying, “he wasn’t looking to date – he wanted to marry her.”
On 8 August 2020, the couple delighted fans by announcing their engagement. Their whirlwind romance led to a wedding on 22 December 2020, which combined traditional Indian customs with modern elegance. Though the ceremony was private, it touched the hearts of admirers worldwide.
In their first year of marriage, they shared many joyful moments on social media. Dhanashree frequently appeared at IPL matches, cheering for Chahal from the stands. Their collaborative dance videos and fun-loving posts made them a favourite among fans.
