When Priyanka Chopra’s Mother Shielded Her Against ‘Scary’ Director, Told Him ‘You Want Her To Die…’



Priyanka Chopra has often been vocal about her thoughts be it standing up for herself or her views about working in the film industry. In a recent interaction, the actress’ mother Madhu Chopra recalled how her daughter was scared of director Tarun Manshukhani during Dostana’s shoot.

In an interview with Lehren Retro, Priyanka Chopra’s mother Madhu said, “Tarun, as I know him today, was not the same Tarun. He was a very scary man. One day, Priyanka had a high fever. She asked for a pill, and I gave one to her. She was insisting that she would go to work. But even after an hour or so, the fever wouldn’t subside. I told her that she must rest it out and not go to work. She asked me to tell Tarun because she didn’t want to be the one to break the news to him.”

Madhu then further said, “After hearing Priyanka wants to take off, Tarun says How convenient. Madhu didn’t take the comment well said, if you want her to die on your set, I’ll send her. But, if something happens to her, but you’ll be responsible for it”. Now, all is well between them.

Dostana released in theatres on November 14, 2008. The film stars Abhishek Bachchan , Priyanka Chopra, Kirron Kher, John Abraham, Monika Gaba, Farah Khan, Boman Irani and Sushmita Mukherjee among others.

There are speculations that Priyanka Chopra has been locked in as the female lead in SS Rajamouli’s directorial jungle adventure film. Following in the footsteps of other Bollywood actresses, Peewee will appear in the Telugu movie. Reports of Priyanka Chopra being a part of the film were further strengthened by after her recent arrival at the Hyderabad airport.

Priyanka Chopra has Hollywood projects including Citadel Season 2, Heads of State and The Bluff. In the second season of Citadel, she will be reprising her role of Nadia Sinh and will be paired opposite Richard Madden. In the Heads of State, the film will star Idris Elba, John Cena, Paddy Considine, Stephen Root and Carla Gugino among others.
