Sehwag, who serves as the brand ambassador for the tournament, was present to cheer on the young cricketers. His son Aryavir, making his DPL debut for the Central Delhi Kings against the East Delhi Riders, showed glimpses of his father’s attacking style, smashing four boundaries in a 16-ball 22 as the Kings won comfortably by 62 runs. Despite his impressive start, Aryavir was surprisingly left out of the final against the West Delhi Lions. On the field, the West Delhi Lions claimed the DPL 2025 title with a six-wicket victory over the Kings in a high-pressure final. Chasing 174, the Lions were jolted early as Simarjeet Singh and Arun Pundir struck twice to reduce them to 48 for 3 inside the fifth over. Captain Nitish Rana, however, rose to the occasion with a calm and commanding unbeaten 79, stabilising the innings and steering his side to victory.

Do you think Aryavir should have played in the final match?

Earlier, the Kings had staged a remarkable recovery after a shaky start to post 173 for 7 in 20 overs. Yugal Saini and Pranshu Vijayran stitched a 78-run partnership for the seventh wicket, with Saini scoring 65 and Vijayran finishing unbeaten on 50. For the Lions, Manan Bhardwaj impressed with figures of 2 for 11, while Shivank Vashisht also picked up two wickets. Rana contributed with the ball too, conceding just 16 runs in four overs and taking a key wicket. While the final belonged to the West Delhi Lions, it was the sight of Sehwag sharing a proud moment with his son that stole the hearts of fans, showing that cricket is as much about family and memories as it is about runs and wickets.
