Paris Saint-Germain’s historic first Champions League victory celebration on Saturday was marred by nearly 300 arrests as thousands of supporters filled the streets of Paris, with most arrests linked to fireworks possession and public disorder near the Champs-Elysees avenue and Parc des Princes stadium following their 5-0 win against Inter Milan in Munich. While the majority celebrated peacefully, police deployed water cannons to prevent crowds from reaching the Arc de Triomphe.Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. At the Parc des Princes stadium, 48,000 fans watched the match on big screens, with most supporters expressing their joy through singing, dancing, and car honking after the historic victory.“It’s so good and so deserved! We have a song that talks about our struggles and it hasn’t always been easy. But we got our faith back this year with a team without stars. They’re 11 guys who play for each other,” said Clement, a 20-year-old PSG supporter.French President Emmanuel Macron announced plans to host the victorious team on Sunday for congratulations.“Bravo, we are all proud,” Macron wrote on X. “Paris is the capital of Europe tonight.”Paris mayor Anne Hidalgo described the win as “historic.”The team is scheduled to hold a victory parade on the Champs-Elysees on Sunday, expecting tens of thousands of supporters to gather and celebrate with their champions.
