A story etched in inkExplaining the concept, the artists shared, “This piece draws from his journey as a person. It reflects the transformation he has gone through, what he has moved beyond, what he has arrived at, and the direction he continues to move in.”The process involved reworking Kohli’s existing tattoos, including an incomplete armband inspired by Lord Shiva, which had faded over time. The artists noted, “Some parts needed to be covered. Some needed to be refined and restored. And much more needed to be added — with purpose.”They added that the aim was “to take scattered fragments and transform them into a single, cohesive sleeve that flows as one,” ensuring the entire arm tells a unified story. The lotus and its symbolismFrom the elbow, the design expands into a detailed mandala crafted through dotwork, blending multiple tattooing styles, including semi-realism and geometric stippling. As the artwork extends upward, it introduces floral elements — most notably the lotus.Describing its significance, the studio said the lotus is “a flower that rises from muddy waters, untouched by the filth it grows from, blooming with purity regardless of the environment it comes from.” It symbolises peace, resilience and harmony — traits that mirror Kohli’s discipline and focus through different phases of his career.“In many ways, it mirrors his own journey,” the artists added, while noting that the deeper meaning behind each element remains personal to the cricketer.
