The Diplomat Box Office Collection Day 3: John Abraham Starrer Concludes Opening Weekend At ₹13.30 Crore

The Diplomat Box Office Collection: John Abraham starrer has been performing fairly well in the domestic market. The movie opened at ₹4 crore in India and has maintained its pace since then. The political thriller drama is helmed by Shivam Nair and explores the theme of diplomacy and the personal conflicts faced by diplomats.

On the third day of the release, the movie minted ₹4.65 crore. On Friday, the movie minted ₹4 crores, followed by a 16.25 per cent spike in the collection on Saturday i.e. ₹4.65 crores. Adding the three-day collection, the opening weekend business stands at ₹13.30 crore. The Diplomat had an overall 19.61 per cent Hindi occupancy on Sunday with the maximum reported in Chennai (62.75 crore).

While the movie maintained its pace over the weekend, the real test would be Monday – the first weekday of the week. If the movie is able to hold its ground then, it might end the opening week at around ₹30 crore.

Vicky Kaushal starrer which released last month has again managed to outperform the new release The Diplomat. On the 31st day of the release, which is the 5th Sunday, the periodic drama earned ₹8 crore at the box office, taking India’s business to ₹562.65 crore. Chhaava had an overall 22.68 per cent Hindi occupancy on Sunday with the maximum reported in Chennai (85.50 per cent).

In an exclusive chat with Republic Media Network’s editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami , John Abraham shares an anecdote where he felt particularly dejected. He shared, “The lows are when people doubt your craft because I work so hard at it. It’s about the body, I love that sometimes the roles have to be physical. And I want to this commercial for them like Pathaan, like Force, it’s great. But, I also want to make films like The Diplomat.”

Recalling a conversation he had with a producer, the 52-year-old actor said, ” A producer directly told me, ‘They don’t want to see you in films like this’. And I said, ‘But how are you judging? Let the film happen, maybe it will work like Madras Cafe’. They said, ‘No, no John you need to better films where you fight.’ I’m like, ‘No, you need to the film where you think, that’s very important, that’s what makes you attractive.”

Next, the actor will be seen in Tehran, co-starring Manushi Chhillar, and Tariq. The actor also told Republic that a comedy movie is in the works and he might announce it soon.
