TECNO has announced a smartphone it claims is the world’s thinnest. Called Tecno Spark Slim, the concept smartphone will be on display at the Mobile World Congress (MWC), Barcelona, scheduled to kick off on March 3. TECNO’s Spark Slim measures 5.75mm, thinner than a pencil, despite having a hefty battery with over 5200mAh capacity, a tall 6.78-inch display, and an advanced dual 50MP camera system.
“As the industry’s slimmest device with a 5200mAh+ battery, TECNO Spark Slim will lead the way in the next wave of ultra-thin smartphone design,” said the company.
Designed from recycled aluminium using an integrated die-casting process with a stainless steel unibody, the TECNO Spark Slim is also lightweight, with the company claiming that the slim body enhances the phone’s ergonomic design. TECNO has packed a 3D curved AMOLED screen with a 1.5K resolution, a 144Hz refresh rate, and a peak brightness of 4500 nits. Its battery can run all day long, while a 13MP selfie camera is “complemented” by an interactive light band to create a dynamic and humanised lighting effect in photos.
TECNO has not revealed what chip it has used in the Spark Slim, but it claims that the “high-performance octa-core chip” can deliver “smooth experience and exceptional endurance.”
Since this is a concept phone, it will not be available in the market right after its debut at the MWC. However, TECNO could mass-produce the device and launch it in future based on its previous track record. Months after showing off its first foldable device under the Phantom brand in 2023 during the MWC in Barcelona, TECNO launched the Phantom V Fold in several key markets, including India. Last year, the company showcased its first tri-folding smartphone called Phantom Ultimate 2. It uses a 10-inch screen with TDDI (touch and display driver integration) technology to transition from a regular smartphone to a tablet-like device.
