NEW DELHI: Former Indian cricket team captain Sourav Ganguly narrowly avoided a major accident on Thursday when his car was involved in a collision en route to Burdwan.
The incident took place near Dantanpur on the Durgapur Expressway when a lorry abruptly overtook his convoy, forcing his driver to brake suddenly. This sudden maneuver led to a chain reaction, with the vehicles in the convoy colliding, including one that struck Ganguly’s Range Rover.

Fortunately, the accident did not result in any injuries. However, two cars in the convoy sustained minor damage. Ganguly was briefly delayed for about 10 minutes before continuing his journey to Burdwan University, where he was scheduled to attend a function.
Despite the unsettling experience, Ganguly maintained his composure and fulfilled all his commitments in Burdwan as planned.
At the university event, he engaged with students and dignitaries, discussing the future of Indian cricket and sharing memorable experiences from his illustrious career. Later, he also attended an event organised by the Burdwan Sports Association.
Known for his leadership and calm demeanor both on and off the field, Ganguly handled the situation with poise, ensuring that the minor mishap did not disrupt his professional engagements.
